task_for_today

1. Divide the pages of your notebook in half. If using an iPhone like device use a full screen.

2. On the top part of each page draw a series of 9 axonometrics exploring the amalgamation of 5 rectangular prisms. The rectangular prisms should intersect with each other at right angles. Use carefully hatched lines to highlight one set of surfaces that exist in parallel planes.

Note: some of the rectangular prisms might be 'subtracted' from the others; you do not need to use the same set of 5 rectangular prisms for your 9 drawings.

3. On the lower part of each page draw a second series of 9 axonometrics that re-draw the first series from the opposite point of view. Use carefully hatched lines to highlight one set of surfaces that exist in parallel planes.

Note: throughout the class students will be constructing examples of these axonometrics using Sketchup (camera>parallel projection).

Note: From 11-12am Jeremy Harkins will be assisting people with software installation (Crysis Wars, the SDK and PlayUp on their own laptops) in the forum space on level 5.

independent_study

Complete by the beginning of next weeks tutorial.

1.
In consultation with your tutor take one pair of axonometrics created in class and construct them in 3 dimensions using Google SketchUp.

2. Use the PlayUp plugin to export them to a custom enivironment you have created in Crysis Wars.

(Note; to do this the computer you use will have to have installed the Playup plugin, the Crysis Wars game, the Crysis Wars SDK and completed both of the tutorials below)

You can also find the tutorials here: Resources\samples\Arch\ARCH1101 - Lowe\Tutorials

3. Download 'Fraps' to capture two images from your Crysis Wars environment and upload them, along with the page from your sketchbook that you based it on, to your blog.

Note: make sure you save the Crysis Wars environment as you go along as it will be a part of your EXP2 submission. Use your student id number then _v01, _v02, _v03 to denote successive versions (saving over the top of your files won't help you when the last one you saved becomes corrupt!).
