Complete by the beginning of next weeks tutorial.
1. Complete the tutorials from the wiki at CryMod.com
Creating a Basic Level (this is a written version of the video tutorial above).
2. Tutor Julian Cromarty has produced 2 video tutorials that are avilable from the BENV2423 resources folder. "Jules_InitialSetup.mov" is another reiteration of the basic level creation tutorials above. "Jules_TerrainTexture.mov" is a very useful tutorial on texturing your terrain. Watch "Jules_TerrainTexture.mov" and apply some of the techniques by next week.
3. Try these once you understand the basics:
How To Create Overhanging Cliffs
Once you can do that, check out the "Layer_Painting_Advanced_Techniques" tutorial.
Some terrain textures/materials blend well together, and some don't (leaving a jagged/pixelated border between them ... white sand and concrete for example). The tutorial above recomends ones that work well together. You can also experiment with the colour that you can put under the texture (to the right of the "Filter" slider ... also worth using) to help the two materials blend better. You will find that if the underlying colours match the textures you are trying to blend between they will blend better. As noted above, this is not so critical with certain terrain materials.
4. Capture a 30 second maximum video clip of your environment-in-progress and upload it to youtube (linking it back to your blog).
